I have been working with the fifth year pharmacy students for the past 20 years. I am using Pass Naplex course books to help students passing the exam and keep up with my clinical skills. Here is my reviews of the books. The first reason is the books are cheap. After six years of pharmacy school, most have loan up to their neck. You spend six years studying about pharmacy; therefore, a quick review on the topics should be sufficient. Stop thinking like a student! You only need to obtain the score of 75 and above to achieve your goal. No body care that you spend thousands of dollars on studying materials, six months to a year of studying and got a triple digit score. Again, your future employer does not care of you high score. They want to know if you have the license or not. There are many changes in the field of pharmacy in the past years, but one consistency is most students over study for the NAPLEX exam, which is a waste of time and money. The second reason is the Pass Naplex volume I opens with a collection of feedbacks from past NAPLEX test takers. If you never take the test before, you want to know how to prepare for it. I would recommend to buy volume I just for this reason. The third reason is the top 300 drugs and the consultation points. Pass Naplex volume II opens with the top 300 drugs and consultation points by grouping them in category. You do not care if drug X is the best seller. The book puts all drug x type together, so you can review the consultation points of the whole class with one shot. It does save a lot of time if you study this way. The fourth reason is the books highlighted and underlined all importance information or what a typical pharmacist does in a day. Because students are not pharmacists, they do not know what information is importance and what is not. For example, if a pharmacist has to check all the Lovenox dosages every day, then knowing how to determine the correct dosage for Lovenox is importance. Focus on all highlighted and underlined materials first, then find out what are your weak topics are and spend time sometime strengthen them for the exam. The fifth reason is that drugs dosage is grouping together for the comparison. The drug of choice is highlight and underline, which is follow by the alternative options. Most drugs are given once daily because of compliances. Focus on the one not giving once daily will save you a lot of time. The six reason is that there are many practice questions on compounding, pharmacy calculations, and biostatistics. The seven reason is the snapshot of the treatments and the algorithm for the treatments. These are tools to help you have a visual picture of the material that you are about to study or one can think of them as a quick road map before a long journey. We will stop at seven because it is a lucky number. There will be things about the books that you do not like, but after you have passing the exam, it does not really matter.
